Rick Smith is the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Securus Technologies. Securus Technologies is an inmate technology company whose headquarters are located in Dallas, Texas. The Company was founded back in 1986, and it has other regional offices situated in Carrollton and Allen in Texas. It also has offices in Atlanta, Georgia. The Company has been operational for over 30 years serving approximately 3,400 correctional facilities. It has also worked in over 1.2 million inmates’ facilities across the United States and Canada. The company has the largest team in the industry with about 1,300 Associates across the United States. The company owns the Secure Call Platform which is the leading platform with more than 2,100 installations. In July 2016 through Rick Smith leadership, the company had invested over $500 million in technologies, acquisitions, and patents. Recently, the company publicized its Wireless Containment Solution developed to help prevent contraband cell phones from connecting to mobile networks.

Rick Smith’s desire to work in the technology business began at an early age and majored in technical fields in school. Rick Smith schooled at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he acquired his first degree in Electrical and Electric Engineering. He also holds a Master’s degree in Engineering from the same University. He also went to the University of Rochester where he studied at the Simon Graduate School of Business, and graduated with a Master’s degree in Business Administration. He also went to the State University of New York at Brockport where he acquired a Master’s degree in Mathematics. He also holds an Associate degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Rick Smith’s education background has seen him become a great industry leader. He has worked in several industries and gained a lot of experience in his career. He has worked for Global Inc. as a Chief Financial Officer. He worked there for the company approximately 26 years before it changed its name to Frontier Corp. He also worked as the President of IT, a position he acquired after been appointed as the Vice President of telephone operations in the Midwest region. He has also worked at the company in the network operations and business development sectors as the director. He finally served as the Vice President of Financial Management at the company.

Rick Smith later went to work for Eschelon Telecom Inc. from Frontier Corp. He was the Chief Financial Officer at the company from 1998 to 2007. Through his leadership, the company increased its net worth to approximately $345 million. He was later chosen as the CEO in 2000. Rick Smith has focused on assisting various correctional facilities to collect enough proof useful in court. He is also concerned in connecting and bringing together families and friends to their loved ones who are in prisons.
